The Designs Of Forensic Architecture

By Eliza Mendoza

Forensic Architecture is an in study that goes to look out at buildings where events took place. The events must have had significance to the current issues in the world or a particular country. The events could go back to several decades. What is studied is the model of the building, the activities that took place in it and the history about the structure. For example a twentieth century prison may be under study the various activities that took place in it. If deaths were reported in the prison, researchers may go to the site and predict the cause of the deaths.

All this has led to emergence of a subject that sits down to study the old buildings, the various changes between them and the modern buildings changes, and the technology used to develop them. All these aspects are important to determine the strides that have been made by human beings over the years. The process of study and analysis is done by a team of qualified staff. Individuals who have interest to pursue this subject undergo some form of training in the universities.

The buildings studied are used to interpret many aspects of developmental changes. The language embedded in the building s could be said to be the dominant language at the time of construction of the building. The carvings made could also be used to deliver important messages.

The initial step is where the researchers visit the existing building or the remains of the structure. A good example would be the pyramids found in Egypt. Once the buildings that are to be studied are identified, a short visit is made to the location of the structure. The reconnaissance helps the researchers to prepare on how to approach the whole exercise of studying it.

They assemble the listed items. Some of these items could be hired such as vehicles or machinery.Vehicles such as tractors may be needed to lift up remains of buildings that have fallen down. Chisels may be used to flake small pieces of stone for study. The stone is then analyzed for the ratios of concrete, sand and ballast.

Thereafter, they will make an entry into the building. Inside, they will pick unique items they find inside. Photos may be taken to act as future proofs of what they saw. They will work to cover the whole building maximally. In the process, they come up with deductions . They work out reasons for the models of items they find inside.

Samples of timber and stone will be carried to undergo a series of lab tests. The scope of the subject allows the researchers to study the activities that took place in the building. For instance, if a bomb exploded, these, researchers would be put to task to predict what actually happened. This is a scenario where the bomb was placed in a building.

Forensic architecture is widely studied at the current time. Most studies are based on assumptions. It gives a reel way to many divergent ideologies from scholars. The buildings taken into consideration are used to confirm history that is read in books. They act as raw evidence to the current history. Activities such as early trade have been proved by the existence of old markets that have a characteristic old model structure or outline.
